Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags (contents only)
  • 1 teaspoon dried lavender (optional)
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried lavender
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar using a hand mixer.
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Add the contents of the tea bags and dried lavender, if using, and stir well.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a smooth dough forms.
  7. Use a tablespoon to drop small portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space in between.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until they are lightly golden. Allow to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the glaze: whisk together powdered sugar, milk, dried lavender, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Decorate the cooled cookies with the glaze and sprinkle extra lavender on top if desired.

Notes

Let the cookies cool thoroughly before icing to prevent the glaze from melting.
