Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 g cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 2 tablespoons oil (e.g., peanut oil)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 carrot
  • 100 g peas
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sambal Oelek

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Let the rice cool, dice the vegetables, and finely chop the garlic.
  2. Fry the eggs: Heat one tablespoon of oil in a wok or large pan and lightly scramble the eggs. Set aside when done.
  3. Sauté the vegetables: Add another tablespoon of oil to the pan, then add the onions, garlic, and carrots. Sauté until soft and fragrant.
  4. Add the peas: Mix in the peas and cook for another minute.
  5. Combine the rice: Add the cooled rice to the pan and fry until slightly brown, stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
  6. Season the rice: Add the sweet soy sauce, regular soy sauce, and Sambal Oelek. Mix thoroughly.
  7. Incorporate the eggs: Return the scrambled eggs to the wok and mix well.

Notes

Use cold, day-old rice for best results. Constant stirring helps achieve the perfect texture.
